1965 Austin Healey 3000 MKIII BJ8 

 

JME is delighted to offer for sale this superb example of a restored Austin Healey 3000 MKIII phase 2. This original UK home market RHD Austin Healey 3000 MK III chassis no. HBJ8/31884 was built on the 25th May 1965.

 

This Austin Healey remains its original colour of Healey Blue with blue interior and blue wet weather gear. The car originally left the factory with Wire Wheels, Heater, Tonneau cover, Roadspeed tyres, Laminated windscreen, and overdrive. A matching numbers car, with all information confirmed by the vehicles Heritage Certificate. This final and most powerful incarnation of the ‘Big’ Healey has had a full lead-free conversion, and is fitted with an uprated fuel pump, high torque starter motor, non-adjustable steering column, 72 spoke chrome wire wheels, and overdrive.

 

Restored between 2000 – 2003, The car has excellent panel gaps and was rebuilt using its original outer body panels. The engine was last rebuilt in 2009 by Cape International and rebuilt to original factory specification. Excellent oil pressure hot or cold, runs smoothly and is cooled by a large core radiator fitted with a Revotec electric cooling fan. Running on its original 2” SU carbs the car starts and idles with ease. The gearbox is strong with smooth selections and the overdrive engages promptly. Supplied with blue leather interior with white seat piping, Mohair hood, tonneau cover and hood envelope. The 72 spoke chrome wire wheels are fitted with Blockley tyres making this an incredibly smooth and refined car to drive. Serviced and maintained by ourselves at JME Healeys for the past 11 years.

 

Supplied with documents & invoices folder detailing the vehicles history. Commissioning a specialist to restore a Healey to this standard and specification would now comfortably exceed £150K GBP.
