1966 Austin Healey 3000 Mk III BJ8
JME is delighted to offer for sale this superb example and freshly restored Austin Healey 3000 MKIII phase 2. This Austin Healey 3000 MK III chassis no. H-BJ8L/36916 was completed by JME Healeys in March 2021 for the existing owner and was commissioned as a full nut and bolt restoration to our customers’ requirements.
Built on the 15th June 1966, this example of the Austin Healey 3000 MKIII left Abingdon originally British Racing Green and was exported to Philadelphia where it remained until its repatriation in 2012.
During the cars restoration it was painted its current colour scheme of Austin Healey Ice Blue with Blue interior by ourselves at JME Healeys. This final and most powerful incarnation of the ‘Big’ Healey has had a full lead free conversion, and is fitted with an uprated fuel pump, high torque starter motor, alternator, electronic ignition, electronic cooling fan, adjustable steering column, new 72 spoke wire wheels and overdrive.
A structurally superb car. Restored on its original chassis, the car has excellent panel gaps. The car was rebuilt using its original front & rear shrouds and doors but with new steel front & rear wings and bootlid. The engine was machined and rebuilt to its original specification. Excellent oil pressure hot or cold, runs smoothly and does not overheat, the gearbox is strong. Running on its original 2” SU carbs. All new correct MKIII interior which has been fully tailored by our in-house trimmer to suit the car along with a correct matching hood and wet weather gear. Sound deadening & heat insulation fitted throughout has made the car an incredibly smooth and refined ride to produce the best road quality car available. This no expense spared 100% restoration has only 200miles since its completion and is now ready to be enjoyed and toured.
Fully documented restoration & itemised parts list by ourselves at JME Healeys since its completed restoration in March 2021 and with over 750 photos of the restoration process. Itemised parts list confirming the restoration costs. Commissioning a specialist to restore a Healey to this standard and specification would now comfortably exceed £135K GBP.
